Release 0.3.13
Known issues and current limits
This public beta is experimental software, not a finished consumer release. These limits explain what is supported and what should be reported.
M5 MacBook Air temperature readings · Build 22 verification pending
On one tested fanless M5 MacBook Air, Breeze 0.3.10 (Build 21) downloaded and installed successfully, but Model, CPU, GPU, Memory, Battery, and Hottest remained unavailable. Diagnostics showed that this Mac does not expose the SMC fan-count key FNum; Build 21 stopped its hardware snapshot there instead of continuing to independent temperature keys.
Build 22 changes that path: a missing FNum now records fan topology as unknown, keeps fan control physically ineligible, and continues read-only temperature-key discovery. It also adds a collapsed Thermal Sensors explorer with individual validated readings and category summaries. This change cannot create a sensor key the Mac does not expose, and the updated path has not yet been physically verified on that M5 Air.
This Mac has no fans, so fan control is neither expected nor offered. The open question is temperature discovery and presentation, not fan controls or helper installation.
Do not install or repair the fan helper to chase readings on a fanless Mac. Until Build 22 is tested on the M5 Air, treat temperature availability there as unverified and send diagnostics if the sensor explorer remains empty.
Current limits
- Physical fan control is enabled only on Mac16,7.
- Hardware-beta applications do not unlock the public build. Fan-equipped cohorts may receive separately signed exact-model control builds after read-only preflight; fanless cohorts remain monitoring-only and use only the public or signed build named in their assignment.
- The current beta DMG is arm64-only; Intel is not supported.
- Fanless Macs never receive fan controls. Build 24 keeps the missing-FNum discovery change first shipped in Build 22, but temperature monitoring remains model-specific and physical verification on the tested M5 MacBook Air is pending.
- Some sensor categories or individual readings may be unavailable. Category labels are Smart Breeze aggregates derived from private keys, not Apple-supported sensor metadata.
- There is no automatic updater. New builds must be downloaded and installed manually.
- Running from the DMG, Downloads, iCloud Drive, or duplicate app copies can confuse login-item and helper registration.
- Smart Boost can pause under macOS control while safe recovery runs. Revoked approval or an authorization mismatch still needs user action.
- Max and Manual fail closed after helper interruptions. Arbitrary Manual targets are not restored after wake.
- Qualification coverage is limited to the tested Mac16,7 hardware and macOS combinations; broader device testing is ongoing.
- Broader live helper, XPC, SMC, and failure-injection automation remains incomplete.
Stop and report immediately
An unexplained ownership loss, failed System handoff, recurring reconnect that still requires a click, helper-authentication bypass, or artifact checksum mismatch stops the release. Copy diagnostics and report it.
